When we first began thinking about themes for the guest suites in a Scottish farmhouse B&B, we knew instantly that one of the rooms had to be styled around the image of the thistle. What is more Scottish and more beautiful than the Flower of Scotland? Not only is it an iconic image, it also comes with its own colour scheme to work from.
The Thistle Suite is one of two triple en-suites here at Rigg House; the room offers a double bed and a single bed, as well as ample space for a travel cot (which we can provide). I slept in this room once and dreamed that I married Eminem, so who knows what you’ll dream of when you stay here!
As to be expected, the walls are decorated in a variety of carefully selected thistle-themed art prints. Above the bed hangs a small group of monochrome prints – I plan to expand this collection over the next few months to add a bit more variety. Right now there are two prints of quite differing styles which I found on Etsy, along with a framed cushion panel.
The print, by Paper Lilac, which hangs beside the bathroom door is one of two pieces of art which came from our old shop in Manchester, Chorlton Art Market.
On the other walls are a framed photo which I took in the field in front of the house during our first few weeks here, as well as a framed card and wallpaper sample.
The en-suite bathroom is perfect for a cyclist! We themed this room around another piece from Chorlton Art Market, this time from Artist on a Bike.
The other prints were found on Etsy, which then gave the room a colour scheme.
We hope you have enjoyed this little photographic tour of The Thistle Suite – check out previous posts to see a couple of our other suites and keep a look out for future posts about the rest of the Art of Rigg House.
